From my makeup bag, MARCELLE Xtension Plus Lengthening & Curling Mascara is one of my everyday basics

February 27, 2012
It was sitting at the outer most corner next to MARCELLE BB Cream during the Beauty Premiere.  Without any light boxes, it was really hard to spot this particular product at the event, especially the lighting there was kind of dimmed.  It didn’t seem like they were pushing this product like the other products they’re releasing this Spring.  However, it has become a staple in my everyday makeup routine for the past couple months.  It was included in the swag bag that we were provided at the event.

On the website, it describes this mascara as follow:

“Give your lashes extra length and curl with Xtension Plus Mascara. The formula and brush curl, define and separate lashes while minimizing clumps. An innovative and specifically designed soft polymer brush offers a side with a row of longer bristles which reach even the shortest lashes and stretch them from root to tip, achieving their maximum lengthening potential. The tapered brush tip is perfect for extreme definition. Removes easily with any Marcelle eye make-up remover.”

The wand is quite interesting because the bristles on one side is longer than the other side.  However, from the picture I saw MARCELLE's website, the actual one that got released is different than the PR sample.  But the long and short bristles seem like the same as the one I've got.

Unlike other lengthening mascara, this mascara does not contain fibre.  In the ones that contain fibre, sometimes you would find some black pieces around your eyes throughout the day because the mascara is coming off.  I didn’t notice things like that with the Xtension Plus.  I also find the minimizing-clumps claim to be true because there wasn’t much clumping going on when I use this mascara, but to be fair, I only use like two coats at the max.  I don’t think it provides extreme length, but I do think my lashes appear longer, and it definitely darken them up so even the baby hair are more visible.  It is not a waterproof mascara, so like its description said, it could be removed with makeup remover easily, even cleansing waters.

Here’s a before and after:

Unfortunately, my tube has come to an end of its life (I have been using it since December 2011).  Over the past week, it is starting to clumping up, which is not pretty at all.  On the up side, I guess it lets you know right when you should toss out your mascara lol.

It retails for around CA $10.95 to $12.50, and you can get it from Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, or online.  The price point of this mascara is acceptable, but still a little pricey for a drugstore mascara.  But since it’s a drugstore product, I would definitely wait for a sale or extra points or whatever to get it =).  To be honest, I don’t think I will buy a tube in the near future, the reason being that I still have tons of unopened mascara to go through: I have accumulated quite a few 100-point perks from Sephora, and snatched some other drugstore mascara on sale lol.  But I have to say, I was using it religiously, just this one mascara over the past couple months, so you could tell that I really liked it =).

Have you tried MARCELLE Xtension Plus?  How does it work out for you?
