The Travel Chic: Beauty in Taipei (Pic Heavy!)

May 30, 2012
As mentioned in my past Travel Chic post, my trip to Asia has begun.  I spent my first three nights in Hong Kong, catching up with some friends and family during all those day.  Last Monday (or some say the one before... I get confused with these things), I flew to Taipei with my family because according to my brother I should "make the most out of my first transpacific trip in years".  I guess he's right.

Taipei is very different than what I have imagined.  I imagined it to be newer, but instead a lot of places are full of older building.  It's very different from Hong Kong.  But there are something the two cities have in common - the number of beauty counters.  Every mall or department store I have visited, the first thing you'll see after the entrance will be beauty counters.  I believe my fellow Canadian beauty enthusiasts will drool when they see these stores in person.  They have about 3-5 times more brands than we have in Canada.  They also have a lot of freestanding beauty stores... from drugstore to high-end, from American to Korean.  You can find almost every brand you can name here in Taipei!  And here are just some pictures that I took from a Taipei landmark - Taipei 101, plus a few shots in Ximending =)

Dior freestanding store... drool...

Estee Lauder freestanding store... The lights are so pretty inside... too bad it's not showing up =(

escents freestanding store... It's a Canadian brand but I have never seen it in Toronto

Crabtree & Evelyn... Ok it's not all that special this one lol

eitta... I have no idea what this is... I still don't know lol

Essence Displays in a shopping centre... 3 times more selections than we have in Canada!

There's a cashier, so I guess this counts as an essence "freestanding store"!?

More nail colours! I WANT!!!

Can we please get more stuff from essence in Canada?  They're pretty great =)... Pretty please?

Unfortunately, I did not make any beauty purchases there (except for a brow pencil that I got from Daiso because my mom needed one lol).  Shocking, I know!  But I know I can find most of the brands/products there in Hong Kong too.  And I am 99% sure they're cheaper in Hong Kong than they're in Taipei (except for the local brands, of course).  So I saved my money for the food and clothes =P.

Stay tuned (this is not a channel... but what is the blog-equivalent for this phrase?) for more posts about my trip to Taipei and Hong Kong =).

  4. Oh I agree!  Our counters are crap compare to these gorgeous store.  The fanciest that we got would have to be either Yorkdale the Bay counters or the Bay across the street from Eaton Centre... =/

And Emma Watson looks good no matter what style... I totally adore her! (she's my girl crush too lol)
