I have a confession to make.  I was never picky about shampoos.  My process is: go to the drugstore, pick out whatever that's on sale, boom.  Well, recently, this process backfired badly on me.

I have a love-hate relationship with nail art.  I love it because it looks so pretty on my nails when others do it for me.  I hate it because I suck at it.  But every now and then I still like to test my ability.  This week I played with the new Revlon Nail Art Shiny Matte (CA $8.95).

The Revlon Nail Art Shiny Matte is new to the drugstore this year.  It is probably the most unique combination I have seen.  Again it is dual-ended and it has a matte base coat with a regular nail polish brush and a shiny metallic colour with skinny nail art brush.  It is designed to be used together, but you can also mix and match with other Shiny Mattes to come up with your own combo.  I really love how simple it is to get some unique nail art with this product.  You don't need some complicated design to get a unique results, try using a mix of lines.

Tortoise Shell is my favourite out of the two because of the combination of matte burgundy and metallic golden taupe.  To get an opaque colour, I would apply two coats.

Emerald Suede has a matte pink colour on one side and a emerald metallic nail art side.  This matte pink colour is a bit harder to handle than the burgundy colour on Tortoise Shell.  Two coats of it will be pigmented enough.

I would highly recommend the Revlon Nail Art Shiny Matte because they're truly unique to me.  I am very interested in other shades, so I'm gonna be on a look out of sale :).

Until next time,

x Rica

I always say I love my matte shadows but the truth is it only compose about 20% of my eyeshadows.  Good matte shades are hard to come by, and if I stumble upon it, I want them all.  This recently happened with the Diorshow Fusion Mono Matte (CA $32 / US $30).

Have you ever saw something on a magazine and knew at that moment you definitely need it in your life? Ya that happens might be far too often.  But if I'm just talking about as of lately, it happened when I saw the Dior Diorblush Trianon Édition in Corail Bagatelle (CA $44 / US $43) on a Japanese magazine.  The colour right down to the bow embossment whispered my name.  Much to my anticipation, it turns out to be just as delicious looking as it is when it's put into test.

I used to very obsessed with coral lips about 2-3 years ago (anybody remember MAC Ever Hip in their Liberty London collection?).  Then I went through the phases of bold red lips, bright pink lips, berry lips, and now, tinted lip balm.  So it's taking me some strength to go back to coral with all these nice shades popping up, including the Dior Addict Lip Glow in Coral (CA $35 / US $31) and Dior Rouge Dior in Rose Crinoline (CA $36 / US $34).

It's a day early, but Happy Valentine's Day!  Believe it or not, I rarely celebrate Valentine's Day.  My friends called my man lucky because he doesn't need to get me a gift or flowers.  But I'd be lying if I say I don't care for the romantic stuff, roses and chocolates.  At the very least, I would have to put on some Valentine's Day themed makeup.  Here's how I'm gonna get that...

Many of my friends would have a tube or two Dior Addict Lip Gloss in their bag.  They are undoubtedly beautiful to look at, but are they as great as many have said?

Last month I had the chance to go to the Shu Uemura SS2014 Press Event to learn and explore about their upcoming collection, and to witness the magical makeup techniques of Shu Uemura's Global Creative Director—Kakuyasu Uchiide.

Dear Polar Vortex, why are you still here?  Just this past weekend it was all white outside.  I need some other colour in my life.

The Dior Trianon Collection for Spring features the Dior Vernis Nail Lacquer (CA $26 / US $24) in 3 new colours—Bouquet, Porcelaine, and Bloom—and a Shimmering Matte Effect Top Coat in Perlé.  The formula of these Nail Vernis are always smooth and creamy.  But for lighter colours, like Bouquet and Porcelaine in this collection needs 3 coats for a full coverage.  Of course if you don't mind it be slightly translucent, then 2 would do a fine job.
