Chic Chat: Let's Talk.

September 15, 2015
Hey you!

How have you been?

That's great!  I'm quite well, thanks!

As you can probably tell, I’ve been on a blogging hiatus for a few months. The break was a much needed one. Let’s see what has happened to my life during that time…

#1 We became homeowners!

It’s quite an exciting step in my life. We’ve been looking to purchase our own property for almost 2 years now. At first, we would look at listings, new developments, and open houses. For a long time, we just haven’t seen anything that we like and fit our budget. Then, we decided to go with a realtor. Unless you’re a real estate pro, which we were not, working with a realtor is completely necessary, especially when it’s our first property. They offer their insights, their market knowledge, and even some random recommendations (e.g. what filter you should use for the ventilation system in your condo). Even then, it took us a good half a year just to find a right listing in a desirable neighbourhood. It was quite an experience. We have moved now but we’re still in the middle of unpacking (I got way so much sh** x0x) and we’re still planning to renovate in the Fall. Can’t wait for everything to be done done.

#2 He popped the question!

Just a month after we placed the offer, we celebrated our 6th year anniversary at the beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake. Normally, we would go on a trip, but the Canadian dollar was not doing really well, so we decided that Niagara-on-the-Lake will do this year. The man has never been to Niagara-on-the-Lake (he has been to Niagara Falls for like a million times though lol). It’s very different from our usual touristy locale. We did do a few touristy type activities though… we went on a a wine tour, where everyone on the tour probably had a bit too much to drink; we went on a hike to look at a few Niagara Parks and the surrounding scenery. He popped the question while we were looking over the Niagara River during sunset. The weather was in his favour. It was a truly lovely and unforgettable trip.

#3 I got promoted!

The above pic doesn't really have anything to do with my promotion but we like to get afternoon coffee XD

With the increasing responsibilities at work, I knew the time was coming sooner or later. It was actually much sooner than I would ever expect, even though I knew for a year they had the intention to do so. (Nothing is really finalized when you see it written black and white). Anyhow, change in expectation, blah blah blah, long story short, I got given more work to do lol. It’s a great milestone in life, but I don’t expect my workload to go down any time soon. So those were some life changing events while I was on a hiatus.

Truth to be told, I was feeling a bit uninspired for a while. I wasn’t in love with the blog layout, or the photography I did during that time, hence the hiatus  I guess I just needed a break to fall in love with blogging again. You may notice that you are looking at a different layout, because a change is much needed.   I wanted to create more content beyond beauty and fashion, such as food (check out my Instagram, more food shots than selfie lol), home decor and DIY (it’s inevitable now that we got our own place), and travelling (as soon as the Canadian dollar goes back up). So you see, it’s time for a fresh start my friends.

Here’s to new wonderful things!

P.S. What have you been up to lately?
