When the MARCELLE released their original 8-in-1 BB Cream earlier this year, a lot of Canadian beauty junkies went wild.  It has gotten a lot of high praised in the blogosphere (including here).  So when we were told that a newer version, with SPF, is going to be released in July 2012, we were all excited about it!

CLAIMS

The new MARCELLE Anti-Aging 10-in-1 BB Cream SPF20 looks almost identical to its sister.  Except instead of a metallic silver label, it’s got a metallic hot pink label (which is not shown here, unfortunately, because I got a prototype press sample).  Instead of having 8 beauty benefits, it has been powered up to 10 benefits:

1.     Gives skin a lifted appearance
2.     Smoothes fine lines and wrinkles
3.     Improve skin tone
4.     Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
5.     Protects skin from environmental stresses
6.     Strengthens the skin
7.     Controls shine
8.     Soothes and calms dry/damaged skin
9.     Reduces the appearance of imperfections
10.  Provides anti-dull radiant complexion.

PACKAGING

The packaging is identical to its sister, the original MARCELLE BB Cream.  It also comes in a tube form with a pump and a cap.  I love the pump packaging because it's sanitary.  This pump is also a very high quality one that will not dispense too much so that product goes to waste.

COLOUR

This new Beauty Balm is available in two shades: light-to-medium and medium-to-dark.  Both colours tend to go a little more yellow, which is perfect for counteracting redness, and perfect for those with neutral/beige/olive skin tone.  With pink skin tone, the yellow tone in it will brighten your face, but I can’t say for certain that it will match your skin.  It doesn’t have the highest coverage, so it’ll be easier to blend in with your skin tone, but then again, I don’t have pink skin tone so I cannot say for sure,

PRODUCT (coverage / soft-focus effect / texture / staying power)

The major difference of this BB Cream versus the original one is that this one got SPF 20.  And true to its claim, it does provide a little more hydration like most anti-aging products do (creams, serum, whatsoever).  It claims to give you an instant lift, which I can’t say it’s true or false because I don’t need that yet.

MARCELLE BB Cream Anti-Aging + SPF20 Does it ALL | Month of BB

Last Wednesday (June 13, 2012), I attended the MARCELLE and ANNABELLE Beauty Unveiling Event at Andrew Richard Designs in Toronto.  I had an awesome time chatting up my fellow Toronto Beauty Bloggers (#TOBB).  As well as checking out some of the new products from the two companies.

First, let's talk about MARCELLE.

MARCELLE BB Family
You all probably know I love the MARCELLE BB Cream, so when I know they're coming out with two other BB Cream, you can imagine how excited I got!  One thing that many bloggers wished that the original MARCELLE BB Cream has is SPF.  I think they actually heard us and their new Anti-Aging BB Cream comes with SPF 20! According to the lady who I was talking to, what makes this one different than the original one is that it has got a Liftessence Nature Complex.  This innovative ingredient provides an instant lift to the skin, hence the anti-aging BB Cream!

Another new addition to the MARCELLE BB Line is the BB Cream-to-Powder.  I must admit, I am most excited about this product because of the cream-to-powder formulation, of which I am a huge fan.  I have tested the texture, it's much more smooth and silky than the original or the anti-aging one!

Like the Anti-Aging BB Cream, it came with two shades: Light-to-Medium and Medium-to-Dark.  I asked the lady about the difference between this and the original one.  She said it's basically the texture and finish, other than that the benefits are the same.  However, she thinks that the original one will provide slightly better coverage.  She also recommended that one can try using both together to get a fuller coverage.

MARCELLE BB Cream in Light To Medium

Ever since it caught my eyes at the Beauty Premiere, I have been so intrigued by the MARCELLE BB Cream and so determined to test it out!  I was given a sample size at the event, and have been using it since then, so it has been about 4 months.  It might be the most exciting product launch by a Canadian company ever (to me at least)! Even though I got the lab sample from PR, I still purchased the actual one from, you know I'd like to show what you get from the store =D.

Like most BB Cream in the market (Asian or Western), it comes in a tube packaging with a pump.  I wish all foundations are like this because it is more sanitary and less messy.  But I don't know if it's because the fact that I store my MARCELLE BB Cream flat, sometimes it doesn't pump properly (sometimes too little, sometimes nothing comes out).  Since the packaging is designed for it to stand up, you might want to store it vertically as well =).

As for the actual product, I love the colour of this BB Cream because it matches me perfectly (I use the light-to-medium shade).  It is neutral, almost yellow toned, which is quite rare for BB Creams.  A lot of Korean ones I've tried are usuallyquite grey, and hence the "whitening" effect. To be frank, a grey undertone ones is not flattering on everyone. I've seen a lot of ghostly faces with yellowed neck A LOT in real life. In fact, I have done it too!  But this wouldn't give you such an effect.  I'd say it is way more natural and flattering for most people.  I personally wouldn't use the medium-to-dark shade, because it's too dark for me, but I wentto the store and did a swatches of both colour side by side:

From L to R: MARCELLE BB Cream Light to Medium, Medium to Dark

It's supposed to "match" a variety of skintones.  Since it has self-adjusting pigments, it'll fit a wider range of skin tone with the two shades.  They say even olive skin girl will able to wear the medium to dark shade, which is not that much darker than the light to medium shade.  Still, it's got two shades rather than one shade fits all, so it's definitely a plus!  But I would love to see a darker colour so that women of colour could also enjoy BB Creams.  As for coverage, I would say it's light but not extremely sheer. It has more coverage than most tinted moisturizer. It doesn't cover all my acne scaring, but it does even out my skin tone.I still need concealer here and there to cover active breakouts or acne scaring.  But on my good skin days, I would just use it and set with powder and I'll be done.

This is a rather dry BB Cream. Usually the ones I've tried are very moisturizing, but it could be too greasy sometimes. This one is drier and quite good at oil controlling. It doesn't make my skin oily by 10am when I put it on before 8am. By noon though, I start to see shine showing through. But with a good blotting paper and powder you will have another few hours of shine-freeness. I would definitely set it with a shine control powder since I have quite oily skin.  The only thing I really really wish it comes with is Sun protection.  But rumour has it that they're working on that.  So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

MARCELLE BB Cream Light to Medium: Lab Sample and the Real Thing (lol)

Overall, this BB Cream is unlike any other BB Cream I've tried because of its oil controlling property.  As for the skincare effect, I haven't really seen any, so I can't comment on that. I think ladies (and gents) with combination to oily skin and/or minor skin problem (just a bit of uneven skin tone or redness) would enjoy really enjoy this product. If your skin is dry, you'll need to prep your skin by moisturizing it really well right before you apply this BB Cream.

This is definitely becoming one of their star products as I've seen them selling out in different stores, Walmart or Shoppers Drug Mart.  It retails for CA $19.95 ~ $22.95, depending where you get it.  I got mine from Walmart because I know they sell it for cheaper.  It is also available at Rexall and online, where US ladies can purchase it at their website as well.

I hope this helps some of you to decide whether or not should trythis product out. Anyway, please join me and welcome Canada's first BB Cream!

I’m in a rush but let me put some MARCELLE BB Cream on first

It was sitting at the outer most corner next to MARCELLE BB Cream during the Beauty Premiere.  Without any light boxes, it was really hard to spot this particular product at the event, especially the lighting there was kind of dimmed.  It didn’t seem like they were pushing this product like the other products they’re releasing this Spring.  However, it has become a staple in my everyday makeup routine for the past couple months.  It was included in the swag bag that we were provided at the event.
MARCELLE Xtension Plus Lengthening and Curling Mascara
On the website, it describes this mascara as follow:

“Give your lashes extra length and curl with Xtension Plus Mascara. The formula and brush curl, define and separate lashes while minimizing clumps. An innovative and specifically designed soft polymer brush offers a side with a row of longer bristles which reach even the shortest lashes and stretch them from root to tip, achieving their maximum lengthening potential. The tapered brush tip is perfect for extreme definition. Removes easily with any Marcelle eye make-up remover.”

From my makeup bag, MARCELLE Xtension Plus Lengthening & Curling Mascara is one of my everyday basics
