Hello, welcome to "The Office Chic".  I am Rica, the owner and author of this blog.  This is a place for me to share my passion and things I like.  It is called "The Office Chic" because I work at an office environment by day. Business casual is our office attire, but I do like to incorporate extra things I like in my outfits.  I believe that we don't have to dress boring to look professional, we can also be chic, and hence the name of the blog.

The official launch of "The Office Chic"

It was so nice outside today.  I was all dressed up for a mother-and-daughter date and ready to leave, but my roommate left the house with his key and his car was blocking my car.  So there I was, wondering what I could do.  I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to take some outfit photos as the first fashion post for this blog!  So here we go!

Trying to walk gracefully, but I kinda failed.

It's a brand new year.  And what a better way to set some goals, beauty related or not, for this year!

NYR #1: Drink at least 8 cups of water every day.
I don't think I drink enough water.  I usually am able to stick with it in the office, but at home, somehow it's harder to do.  So I'm going to use a water schedule for a month, and hopefully this will become my routine.

NYR #2: Sleep more.
I don't get enough sleep as it is.  During exam time, I get even less sleep.  So this year I just need to start studying earlier, so that I can get more rest closer to exam time.  (For those who are wondering, I have to write a few exam for a professional designation.)

NYR #3: Do yoga at least twice a week.
I stopped exercising over a year ago, which is bad, real bad!  With a full time job, this seems even harder, but I am going to make it work.  I have already taken a tiny step and sign up for some yoga classes at a local yoga studio.  Wish me luck!

I hope you all had a safe and happy holidays.  I decided to compose a list of my favourite beauty products of 2011, you know, to look back and then move forward =).  Without further ado, here's my list of the "Best of 2011".

**********

BEST FACE MAKEUP

High-end Foundation: CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup
This is one of the best find in 2011.  It serves me quite well during the Spring and Summer time.  It's quick and easy to use.  It's quite lightweight, while offering just enough coverage I need for everyday life.

Drugstore Foundation: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20
When I first used it I like it but it melted off my face fairly quickly throughout the day.  But I decided to try it again during the winter season and I love it.  It's still not the most long wearing foundation, but it gives a lovely dewy finish I need in such dry weather.

BB Cream: Skin79 The Oriental Gold BB Cream
This serves me well in the drier season, i.e. Winter time.  I find it works quite well controlling shine, it doesn't add extra shine, at the very least.  I also like how it matches my skin tone quite perfectly.  Most BB Creams give you a grey cast, but not this one, it suits girls with yellow undertone.  For reference, I am somewhere in between NC 20 to NC 25 in the Winter.

I don't know if I have mentioned that I have a band before. Yes, a rock band, there are 5 of us and I'm the singer. We started only half a year ago because of a rock competition among a few competitor firms, Battle of the Bands. As a makeup fanatic, naturally, I want to look my best when I'm on stage. I associate rock and roll with heavier makeup, and I always go for smokey eyes. The thing is that I am not the best at doing smokey eyes makeup because of my eye shape. Frankly, I've seen smokey eyes attempt, which turn badly into panda eyes on celebrities who have similar eye shape with me. So I have always been afraid of these types of looks... that's until I found this palette.

Make Up For Ever Smokey Palette is a 8 colour eyeshadow palette that is specifically designed for users to achieve a smokey eye look using different colour combination. The quality of the eyeshadow in this palette is consistent with their single eyeshadows. This means they're pigmented and they stay on quite well with a primer. They're also buttery soft, but not too powdery, which didn't give me too much fallout when I apply these shadows.
