*NEW* L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail Polishes for FW2015

One of the challenging question on Monday, besides "Can I not go to work?", is "What nail colour should I wear today?"  And L'Oréal Paris makes this even tougher for us with their new shades for this FW2015 season.

Every Fall, I fall into the same pattern of loving everything burgundy and crimson (haha).  I came to realized I start wearing anything that's in that colour family.  Case in point—I have been switching nail polishes, but they are all fall in the same colour range (haha)...

It's officially Fall time!  There's something about Fall that makes me want to change absolutely everything... about my wardrobe, my colour palette... everything!  It might be just the shopaholic in me talking.  I always say, the easiest way to change up your look is trying out a new lip colour.  While I was all about bright lipsticks and tinted lip balm this Summer, I'm ready to wear some dark tone neutrals for the colder seasons.  Here's my Fall neutral lipstick roster this year...

It's the big three-o, no, not for me, but for the L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipsticks!

This year, L'Oréal Paris celebrates 30 years of colour with French attitude, aka Colour Riche Lipsticks.  From bold vibrant colours to your-lips-but-better nude lips, being one of the widest range of colours of lipsticks in the mass market in a variety of finish, you're almost guaranteed to find a Colour Riche shade (or 10) that suits you.

Here are some, well, 30 (for obvious reasons), examples:

In a world where every beauty guru is obsessed with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Benefit Gimme Brow (which are both fab btw), some may feel a bit lost when they try to spend less than $25 on a brow product or two.

I'd like to think there is always a more affordable way to do most things, including taming your eyebrows.  Here's what I used:

Sometimes you gotta keep things interesting, especially with makeup.  So I have been changing things with my routine to make sure my products get some love.  Okay, maybe I gave out too much love because the list is quite long this month.

I think you already know about my oily skin complex and what I would do to try to stop the shine on my forehead.  That's right, I'm still loving Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (CA $60 / US $52) and Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide (CA $59 / US $48).  You can read about my favourite primers here and my favourite foundations here.

For my vampire dark circles, seriously it's bad, I turn to Marc Jacobs Remedy Concealer Pen in Wake Up Call (CA $47 / US $39) to cover them up.  This concealer is light and liquid-y in texture but it stays in place.  My lazy self has turned to the BeautyBlender (CA $26 / US $19.95) to apply foundation and concealer, because it's the fastest and easiest way to do so.

To set, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder (CA $40 / US $34) has been so great for prolonging the wear of my base makeup.  It's super smooth and it won't look too powdery.

I love this time of the year.  The Sun is out.  There is a nice breeze and it's not too hot.  It's also time for a eventful season with Toronto.  One of the biggest is the Luminato Festival that happens every year around downtown Toronto feature art, music, film, theatre, etc.  As the Partner of Creativity of Luminato, every year L'Oréal Canada will have different activation around town for event goers.

As much as I love the look of gel manicure, I have a beef with the system.  1) You need to cure it, even though it's fast, I don't particularly enjoy this extra step.  2) The removal is horrendous, because you need to soak your nails in acetone, not only that dries out your cuticle, it also takes really really long to do.

I'm sure many of you share this love-hate relationship with the gel manicure.  So you might be glad that the new L'Oréal Paris Extraordinaire Gel Lacque 1-2-3 System does almost exactly the same thing with much less hassle.  This system entails 3 steps: Primer, Plumper, and Magnifier.

Having oily skin growing up, I have always got a POREblem.  I use a lot of pore minimizing skincare and deep cleansing mask.  But after all, pores are not going to shrink, but it can look smaller.  SoI always need something to help me smooth out the look of pores.  My newest help is the L'Oréal Paris YouthCode Pore Vanisher Texture Perfector (CA $29.99 / US $24.99).

Just when you think L'Oréal Paris had a great skincare year in 2013, boom, 2014 is even better.  With the release of this new line of Sublime Cleansers, they want women to feel pampered about cleansing.

I have never talked about my skincare routine before because I constantly switch up my routine that I couldn't even keep up.  I do realize it's a bad habit of me, I just can't resist the urge to try new things (it's the beauty blogger in me).  But recently I find myself going back to products that I finished up, so I guess it's safe to say I'm finally getting happier with my skincare routine.

It's a day early, but Happy Valentine's Day!  Believe it or not, I rarely celebrate Valentine's Day.  My friends called my man lucky because he doesn't need to get me a gift or flowers.  But I'd be lying if I say I don't care for the romantic stuff, roses and chocolates.  At the very least, I would have to put on some Valentine's Day themed makeup.  Here's how I'm gonna get that...

I don't have a bucket list to go skydiving, hike the Peru Machu Picchu trail, or simply wear the boldest makeup to work.  Sorry for being so dull but doing things out of the ordinary is just not my style.  Thankfully, the new L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Extraordinaire Lip Colors (CA $12.99 / US $9.99) are well within my comfort zone.

L'Oréal Paris, being the world's leading at-home haircolour brand, has spent the past 10 years to develop a product to enhance the at-home haircolouring experience.  From manual to automatic, L'Oréal Paris's newest Préférence Mousse Absolue has revolutionized how consumers will colour their hair.  And for the first time ever, you can save whatever that is leftover for the next application.

The packaging of L'Oréal Paris is truly a game changer.  With 26 perfectly calibrated components, 4 high-pressure extraction bar, 2 micro-valves, and a high definition diffuser, the not-so-simple bottle dispense a mousse that is mixture of colour and developer.  By just a snap, shakes and a push, you can apply the mousse from the bottle directly to your hair.  Spreading the meringue-like mousse evenly over your entire head, you will be able to your new hair colour in just 3 steps (apply, wait, and wash).

What do you look for in a mascara?  For most of us, it would be volume and length.  One factor that we all subconsciously consider is the shape that the mascara provide.  That is why there are so many different kinds of false lashes out there with different shapes.  If you happened to be a fan of flared-out false lashes, you may want to check out the new L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara* (CA $11.99) to flare out your own lashes.

The 2013 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is on full swing right now!  We have spotted celebrities like Zac Efron, Brad Pitt, Jesse Eisenberg, and Hugh Jackman (sorry for the all male list but you get the pattern :P).  The list just goes on and on but the entire city is full of life and exciting things.

One of the hot spot at TIFF this year, beside the movies, is the L'Oréal Paris Red Carpet Lounge at David Pecaut Square, located right next to the TIFF red carpet near the Roy Thomson Hall.  This pop up Beauty Lounge is only going to be here in Toronto for a limited time (from September 5-14, 2013; Mon-Fri 4-10 pm & Sat-Sun 10 am-10 pm).  It is a perfect place for event goers to get pampered (hair, lips or nails) and have some fun, as well as checking out the limited edition L'Oréal Paris Collection Privée (and get a product sample yourself), which is the official beauty collection for TIFF this year.

As this year's Summer coming to an end, we can start counting down the days till Toronto International Film Festival, aka TIFF.  Each year, being the official sponsor of the event, L'Oréal Paris would create an exclusive collection for the occasion.  This year is no different.

Gigantic disco ball at Luminato
As Summer approaches, there are more and more things happening in Toronto.  Last last weekend, I went and checked out a few events that were happening locally, including Luminato and the Much Music Video Award Turn It Up Beauty Bar.

Line up for L'Oreal Paris Nail Bar
Nail polishes galore... I want them ALL... So beautiful!
L'Oreal Paris set up their Nail Bar at the TIFF Lightbox over the Luminato opening weekend.  It was a huge hit.  There's always a line.  People are really curious what nail polishes option they have with the L'Oreal Paris Color Genius App.

For those of you who don't know, the color genius app will give you suggestions on what makeup/nail to wear.  You simply take a picture of yourself with the app (or use what's in your photo library), and it'll give you three combinations for you to "blend it", "match it", or "clash it".  After event goer has picked their nail polish, they'll get a mani and also receive a bottle of nail polish from L'Oreal Paris.  What a neat idea!

Did you know the first day of Summer in 2013 is June 21?  While Summer is still two weeks away from now, Summer launches have already (or very soon-to-be) arrived at drugstores and beauty counters.  Let's look at some of the drugstore new launches coming up in Summer 2013!

Maybelline New York

L to R: Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara, Master Smoky Shadow-Pencil,
Master Duo Eyeliner, Color Tattoo Pure Pigments x3
  • Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara* (available in June 2013, CA$10.99), which is a total indication of you-should-really-check-it-out
  • ColorTattoo Pure Pigments (available in June 2013, CA$8.99) comes in 9 colours, I, of course went for the neutrals
  • Master Smokey by Eye Studio* (available in June 2013, CA$9.99) comes in 5 different colours, so it'll be easy for you to find one to match the classic smokey eyes that you want to go for.
  • Master Duo by Eye Studio (available now) gives you control in getting a thin or thick glossy line.
What else is there?  Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots and Holographics nail polishes!  Their Color Show line is so affordable (I have seen as low as $2.49) that you can't go wrong with trying out their fun shades.
